The #1 Family Entertainment Facility in the Comox Valley

What to Expect

A typical Summer Night Under the Racetrack Lights at Saratoga Speedway gets underway in the afternoon when the rental go-carts are cleared off the track to make way for hot laps featuring all the racing hardware that’s been trickling in from the back gate and setting up in the pits since 12:30. Spectators are encouraged to join us as the gates re-open for racing at 2:30, get your seat all warmed up and your favourite cold beverage from the Pepsi product line-up or from the R-Ace Gardens service kiosk and watch your favourite driver and pit team tune their racer up for the coming competition.

Hot-laps continue throughout the afternoon providing fans a taste of things to come leading to the driver’s meeting before time-trials get underway at 4:45. Time trials set the racing order for the main events and gives fans an idea of what drivers and cars they’re about to see in the heats and dashes which will take place immediately following the Anthems at 6 pm.

TIP: This is a good time to try-out our new concession menu ordering app right from your seat in the stands! Just use the QR code found in the concourse, or go directly to our website where you’ll find a tab: ”ORDER NOW”. You’ll find our menu and be able to order menu items directly from there; when your order is ready for pick-up we’ll send you a text and let you know which of our 5 concessions has your order ready!

At the end of the trophy dashes and heats the line-ups will be announced; by then everyone will have their favourite racer or car picked out! The main events get underway with the night’s feature races when each class get on the track in turn to duke it out and claim bragging rights and prize money and those all important championship points!!

The legendary Saratoga Speedway rental carts are fuelled up and primed for their final season on the oval track before transitioning to a state-of-the-art go-kart track featuring left and right turns for a new fleet of incredibly fast and environmentally conscious e-karts!

This is what memories are made from; so many families in the Comox Valley can compare stories and claim bragging rights about their experiences over the years on the 3/8 tri-oval track. Inter-generational rivalries exist; this is where they pressed hard on the accelerator and honed their skills on the same track that the high-horsepower racers use to create their own Saratoga Speedway memories!

Our speedway carts are Honda powered open-cockpit racers; we supply the gas and helmet, you supply the need for speed. Carts will run on the track during varied hours and days limited by the racing schedule, and seasonal considerations. Groups are encouraged to book in advance and walk-up racers are very welcome!

Pegasus has awoken after a long hibernation during the pandemic! She’s a beefed up and re-built actual Monster Truck needing a high ladder to mount, and features seating for 8 intrepid riders ready to strap into her custom-designed passenger compartment with 4-point racing harnesses! Riders will experience the excitement of hearing the 460 cubic-inch Ford Big Block engine roar and feel the adrenalin rush as she powers her way over high moguls, crushes cars, and crab-winds her way around her riding range!

This unique experience is available during most go-kart rental hours as well as certain periods throughout race-night and special event operations.

Saratoga Speedway has used the pandemic-driven down time to improve our driver training program launching three-levels of training and A race-certification for new drivers preparing to start their own racing experiences! Designed by professional driving instructor and nationally recognized stunt/test driver Richard Warthington, our driving program features one-on-one, multi-media capable driving instruction on our racing surface. It’s a great introduction to driving for new drivers who have little or no driving experience because the training area is not on public streets and has no traffic to contend with and this makes our program a perfect “Prep-School” for young drivers preparing to undertake driver training from certified public driving school providers.

Our instructors introduce students to basic mechanical construction and maintenance needs of an automobile, operating controls, and basic driving techniques providing students with introductory experiences without having to worry about other vehicles or obstacles the first time behind the wheel. Level 2 introduces more advanced skills and knowledge as well as the introduction of other cars on the track and prepares new racers young and old for racing action by teaching basic racing ideals and the safety aspects of race-night action. Level 3 is mainly about racing; more advanced techniques and safety ideals as well as an introduction to racecar technology.

Adult drivers wanting to just experience driving at speed on a real race track or perhaps to prepare themselves for racing their own car will find Level 3 the perfect opportunity to gain some knowledge and experience prior to taking their first green flag at Saratoga Speedway!
